Structure & switch matrix
The electrical matrix connects rows and columns so the controller can identify pressed switches using fewer pins than a separate wire for every key.
How scanning works
Firmware drives and reads the matrix to detect a closed switch. Diodes can help prevent unintended current paths when several keys are pressed.
Mechanical structure
The housing, plate, switch retention and fasteners form the mechanical assembly. Check the model’s construction drawings or manual before making assumptions about replacement switches or disassembly.
