Sensors & magnetic sensing

A sensor turns a physical change into an electrical signal. In peripherals, sensors can detect motion, magnetic field, position or sound.

Hall-effect sensing

A Hall-effect device responds to a magnetic field. With a suitable magnet and mechanical design, a system can infer position without a sliding electrical contact.

What the sensor name tells you

The sensor is one component of the system. Magnet alignment, calibration, firmware and mechanics also affect the result. Compare complete products and declared operating conditions rather than assuming a sensor label determines accuracy or lifetime.
