Manufacturing processes
Manufacturing process describes how a part is formed and finished. Injection molding forms plastic parts in a tool; CNC machining removes material from a workpiece.
Why it matters
Process choice affects geometry, tolerances, appearance and production economics. A polished mold can transfer a smooth finish to a molded housing. Additional finishing introduces its own requirements.
Reading a product claim
Separate the base material, forming process and surface finish. Ask which part uses the stated process. A machined accent does not establish that the entire enclosure is machined.
